Given:

N₁ = 284

N₂ = 1252

R₁ = 8

R₂ = 10

To find:

Find the greatest number which divides 284 and 1252 leaving the remainder 8 and 10  respectively.

Solution:

284 - 8 = 276

1252 - 10 = 1242

Find HCF of 276 and 1242

276 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 23

1242 = 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 23

HCF = 2 x 3 x 23

HCF = 138

Therefore, the greatest number that divides 284 and 1252 leaving the remainder 8 and 10  respectively is 138

Given:

284, 1252

To find:

Find the greatest number which divides 284 and 1,252 leaving the remainder 8 and 10 respectively.

Solution:

284 - 8 = 276

1252 - 10 = 1242

HCF of 276 and 1242

276 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 23

1242 = 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 23

Common numbers are 2, 3 and 23.

HCF of 276 and 1242 = 2 x 3 x 23 = 138

Hence, the required number is 138
