$x + y = \frac{5}{4} \times 3$

$y = \frac{15}{4} - x$

put value of y in the equation...

3x + 4y = 5

$3x + 4(\frac{15}{4} - x)= 5$

$3x + \frac{60}{4} - 4x = 5$

$12 - x = 5$

$x = 5 - 12$

$x = - 8$

put value of c in the equation to find the value of y...

3x + 4y = 5

$3( - 8) + 4y = 5$

$- 24 + 4y = 5$

$4y = 5 + 24$

$4y = 29$

$y = \frac{29}{4}$

therefore, y = 29/4 and x = -8...
