since, 980 > 504 we apply division lemma to 980 and 504

so we have

                    980 = 504 x 1 + 476

476 is not o , so we again  apply division lemma to 504 and 476

  504 = 476 x 1 + 28

the remainder 28 is not o , so we again apply division lemma to

                476 and 28

476 = 28 x 98 + 0

the remainder have become zero so ( HCF) ( 980 , 504 ) is 28
