Factorize the numbers 24 and 36,

24=2\times 2\times 2\times 324=2×2×2×3

36=2\times 2\times 3\times 336=2×2×3×3

HCF is the highest common factor the number common in both,

HCF(24,36)=2\times 2\times 3HCF(24,36)=2×2×3

HCF(24,36)=12HCF(24,36)=12

LCM is the least common factor the number common in both and left numbers,

LCM(24,36)=2\times 2\times 3\times 2\times 3LCM(24,36)=2×2×3×2×3

LCM(24,36)=72LCM(24,36)=72

Therefore, HCF and LCM of numbers 24 and 36 are 12 and 72 respectively.
