Given:

For cylinder,

Radius = 7 CM

Total surface area of cylinder = 96 cm²

To find:

Height of cylinder = ?

Method:

 \: total \: surface \: area \: of \: cylinder \\ = 2\pi \: r {}^{2}  + 2\pi \: rh

 \\ 96 = 2 \times  \dfrac{22}{7}  \times (7) {}^{2}  + 2 \times  \dfrac{22}{7}  \\  \times 7 \times h \\  \\   96 = 308 + 44h \\  \\ 308 - 96 =  - 44h  \\ \\ 212 =  - 44h

 \\  \dfrac{212}{ - 44}  = h \\  \\  - 4.82 = \: h \\   \\  \:  \: height \: of \: cylinder \: is \:  - 4.82 \: cm

Required answer:

Therefore, height of cylinder is -4.82 cm

Extra points:

We can arrange the total surface area (TSA)

 \\ TSA \:  = 2\pi \: r(r + h)

formula of cylinder as above
