Let, x m is the present height of the tree.
1st year the tree increases by x×1/6=x/6m
Height of the tree after 1st year=x+x/6=7x/6 m
In 2nd year the height increases by 7x/6×1/6 = 7x/36 m
Height of the tree after 2nd year=7x/6+7x/36=(42x+7x)/36=49x/36 m
Here, x=12 m
∴, 49x/36=49×12/36=49/3=16.66 m
It will increase by (16.66-12)=4.66 m in 2 years.
