angle= 45degree

shadow=17m

tanA=P/B

so,

tan 45 =h/17

h = 17m

so, the hieght is 17m

Height of tree is 17 m.

Given:

  • A tree casts a shadow 17m long on the level of ground,
  • When the angle of elevation of the sun is 45°.

To find:

  • Find the height of tree.

Solution:

Concept to be used:

  • Draw the figure.
  • Apply trigonometric ratio to find the height.

Step 1:

Draw the figure according to the statement.

See the attachment.

Let AB is tree.

It's shadow is AC.

Step 2:

Apply tan trigonometric ratio.

tan \: C =  \frac{AB}{AC}

or

tan \: 45^{\circ} =  \frac{AB}{17}  \\

or

 \frac{AB}{17}  = 1 \\

or

\bf \pink{AB = 17 \: m} \\

Thus,

Height of tree is 17 m.
