in ADB

Angle ABD +angle BAD+angle ADB=180.....( sum of all angle of triangle is 180)

60+angleBAD+90=180

angle BAD+150=180

angle BAD=180-150

angle BAD=30

ABD is a 30-60-90 triangle

by 30- 60-90 triangle theorem

AD=root 3 / 2 multiply AB

AD=root 3 /2 multiply 2a

AD=root 3a
