The given point of reflection M (5 , - 1 )

)Let the image of a point P(-3, 7) is A (x, y) under the reflection

We know that the distance of a point from the point of reflection is same as the distance of its image from the point of reflection

So M is the mid point of the line AP

NOW the mid point of the line AP is

( \frac{(x - 3)}{2} , \: \frac{(y + 7)}{2})

Hence,

( \frac{(x - 3)}{2} , \: \frac{(y + 7)}{2}) = (5, - 1)

So

 \frac{x - 3}{2} = 5 \: \: \: gives \: \: x \: = 10 + 3 = 13

 \frac{y + 7}{2} = - 1 \: \: \: gives \: \: y \: = - 9

So the required point is (13,-9)
