Given :   9 litres of 81 litres of a solution of apple juice and water is replaced by pure water to obtain 56% concentrated juice

To Find :  the initial concentration of apple juice in the solution

Solution:

Apple juice  = 9X litre

Water  =    81 - 9X  litre

9 litres of  solution   will contain =

(9/81) 9X  = X    litre   of Apple juice

and  9 - X  litre of Water

replaced by pure water

Apple juice  = 9X - X  = 8X litre

Water  = 81 - 8X

Total = 81 litre

56% concentrated juice

=> (8X / 81) * 100  = 56

=>  X  =   7  * 81 /100

=> 9X =  9 * 7 * 81 /100

> 9X =  (63 * 81 /100)

% in 81 litre = 63  %

Initial concentration of apple juice in the solution =  63 %
