mass of the ball= 250 g =250/1000=0.25kg

v= 40 cm/s=40/100=0.4m/s

THUS K.E.=1/2*mv^2

                 =1/2*0.25*0.4^2 J

                  =1/2*25/100*4/10*4/10 J

                   =1/50 J

                    =0.02 J =ANSWER.

Given that,

Mass of a ball, m = 250 g = 0.25 kg

Speed of the ball, v = 40 cm/s = 0.4 m/s

To find,

The kinetic energy of a ball.

Solution,

If the object is moving with velocity v, the kinetic energy is given by :

K=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2\\\\K=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 0.25\times (0.4)^2\\\\K=0.02\ J

So, the kinetic energy of the ball is 0.02 J.
