To Find :- L.C.M of 6 and 9 ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • LCM(Least common multiple) = Least number which is completely divisible by each one of the given numbers .

checking prime factors of 6 and 9 ,

→ 6 = 2¹ * 3¹

→ 9 = 3 * 3 = 3²

now, we know that,

→ LCM = Product of highest power of all the factors .

as we can see that,

  • Highest power of 2 = 2¹ .
  • Highest power of 3 = 3² .

therefore,

→ LCM = 2¹ * 3² = 2 * 3 * 3 = 18 (Ans.)

Hence, the LCM of 6 and 9 is 18 .

  • HCF(Highest common factor) = Greatest number which exactly divides all the given numbers .
  • HCF = Product of least power of common factors .
