Given:

  • Three number 382,446, and 674 leaving remainder 5,11, and 17 when all are divided by a number.

To Find:

  • The largest number that will divide all numbers  leaving remainders 5, 11 and 17.

Solution:

First of all subtract the reminders from given numbers.

                   382 - 5 = 377\\446 - 11 = 435\\674 - 17 = 657

Now,  find the   hcf (377, 435, 657)

                   377 = 1 \times 13 \times 29\\435 = 1 \times 3 \times 5 \times 29\\657 =  1 \times 3 \times 3\times 73

                   HCF = 1

Hence, the largest number that will divide 382,446 and 674 leaving remainders 5, 11 and 17 respectively is 1.
