Subtracting 1 from both.
1002-1 = 1001
1288-1 = 1287

HCF,
1001 = 11x91
1287 = 11x117

Common is 11

So, 11 is the answer.

Answer:

After subtracting both the numbers by 1 we get the number as 1001 and 1287

Taking HCF:

1001= 11× 13× 7

1287= 11× 13× 9

HCF= 11×13 =143

Therefore largest number whigh divides both these numbers is 143
