firstly remainder should be subtracted
378-6=372
510-6=504
finding hcf
372=2*2*3*31
504=2*2*2*3*3*7
hcf=2*2*3=12
12 is the answer

12 is the largest number that divides both 378 and 510 gives the remainder 6.

Solution:

To find largest number which divides 378 and 510 can be found by subtracting given numbers with its remainder

378 – 6 = 372

510 – 6 = 504

Now let us find HCF of the numbers 372 and 504,

The factors of 372 = 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 31

The factors of 504 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 7

Factors that are common in both the parts is 2 \times 2 \times 3

HCF of 372 and 504 is 12.
