So,

where length = 40cm, breadth =30 cm
and Height = 20cm
⇒ 2 (lb + bh + hl)
⇒ 2 (40 × 30) + (30 × 20) + (20 × 40)
⇒ 2 (1200) + (600) + (800)
⇒ 2 (2600)
= 5200 cm²
