For finding H.C.F. and L.C.M., First of all we should know that what is HCF or LCM

H.C.F. = For HCF we need to take product of the smallest power of each common prime factors in the numbers.

L.C.M. = For L.C.M. we need to take the product of the greatest power of each prime factor involved in the numbers.

We will find H.C.F and L.C.M by

Prime Factorisarion

So, prime factorisation of the given numbers are ÷

12 = 2 × 2 × 3 = 2^ 2 × 3

48 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 = 2^4 × 3

H.C.F.

H.C.F(12 , 48) = 2^2 × 3 = 12

So, the H.C.F of 12 and 48 is 12.

L.C.M.

L.C.M.(12, 48) = 2^ 4 × 3 = 48

So, the L.C.M. of 12 and 48 is 48.

Hope it helps
