Find the lcm and hcf of the x^2 - 4 and x^4 - 16

Given,
x²-4 = (x+2)(x-2)

 {x}^{4}  - 16 =  ({x}^{2} ) ^{2}  - ( {4})^{2}  \\  = (x ^{2}  + 4)(x + 2)(x - 2)

Now, HCF = Common factors = (x+2)(x-2) = x²-4 .

LCM = Common factors * Uncommon terms = (x²+4)(x+2)(x-2) = x^4 - 16 .
