The least number which must be subtracted from 6203 is 119.

Given number = 6203

In order to obtain a perfect square, we have to find the numbers which are close.

we know that 8² = 64     ∴ 80² = 6400 which is close tothe number 6203.

so then we have to look for the squares of 79 and 78

79² =6241 which is greater than 6203. It can't be subtracted.

78² = 6084 which is smaller than 6203 as we need.

Therefore we get a perfect square at 78²

∴ The required number is 6203-6084 = 119

The square root of the number 6084 = 78.

\boxed{\bold{Least\: Number\: = 119}}

\boxed{\bold{Square\: root \:of \: number\: obtained\:=78}}}
