Find the least number which must be subtracted from 7230 to make it a perfect square

First you find the square root of 7230, using division method, as far as possible without going into decimals. You should end up with a remainder of 5, which means that if 7230 did not have that excess of 5 it would have had a perfect square. So 7230-5= 7225 which is a perfect square.
