Find the lenght of the tangent drawn from a point whose distance from the centre of a circle is 25cm. Given that radius of the circle is 7cm.

Length of BC

Solution:

In triangle ABC,

By pythagoras theorem,

AC2 = AB2 + BC2

(25)2 = (7)2 + BC2

BC2 = 625 - 49

BC2 = 576

BC = 24

Therefore, length of BC is 24 cm.
