consider s1=8,s2=15
from pythogreas rule
Ac^2 =AB^2 +BC^2
AC^2 =8^2+15^2
AC^2=64+225
Ac^2=289
Ac=root289
AC=17cm
third side is 17cm

mathdude200: but it is not given triangle is right angle
mathdude200: its insufficient data
mathdude200: solve with assumptions
harshitha006: I solved with assumption only there are only 2 sides given
harshitha006: they asked about thid side it means there are only 3 sides it means it's a triangle
smitha7377: Thx
harshitha006: it's ok
smitha7377: Ya, its a right angled triangle...
harshitha006: ya

Answer:

Assuming that these are the sides of a right angle triangle

Given that,

side 1 = 8cm

side 2 = 15cm

According to pythagoras theorem

(base)^2 + (Altitude)^2 = (Hypotenuse)^2

taking side 1 as base & side 2 as altitude

taking side 1 as base & side 2 as altitude Substituting the values in the equation

=>> (8)^2 + (15)^2 = 64 + 225 = 289

=>> 289 = (17)^2

ie. Hypotenuse = 17cm
