let the length of rectangle be x and breadth be y

as we know that

perimeter of rectangle =2 (length + breadth )

40=2 (x+y)

x+y=20

y=20-x

area of rectangle =length ×breadth

100=xy

x (20-x)=100

20x-x^2=100

x^2-20x+100=0

(x-10)^2=0

x=10cm

y=10cm

so length and breadth are equal .which is 10 cm each
