Join the shortest distance of chord from centre and draw the radius to complete a triangle.

The radius is the hypotenuse.

The distance between centre and chord is the height.

The base is the half of the chord.

Let the base be b.

 b^2+3^2=5^2[By Pythagoras theorem]

 b^2=25-9

 b^2=16

 b=4

Length of chord is double and is 4*2=8.

The answer is 8.

Hope it helped.
