Question:-

Find the length of a diagonal of a rectangle whose adjacent sides are 30cm and 16cm.

Solution:-

Given:-

1. let length and breadth of rectangle 30cm and 16 cm respectively.

let, AB = CD = 30 cm and

AD = BC = 16 cm.

Find:-

1. Diagonals ? let, diagonals be

AC = BD = ?

we know

The property of rectangle:-

1. interior angles of rectangle are of 90°.

2. opposite side of rectangle are equal.

3. diagonals of rectangle bisect each other at 90°.

4. both diagonals of rectangle are equal.

So now

To find length of diagonals

we use Pythagoras theorem.

=> (AC)² = (AB)² + (BC)²

=> (AC)² = (30)² + (16)²

=> (AC)² = 900 + 256

=> (AC)²= 1156

=> AC = √1156

=> AC = 34 cm

so AC = BD = 34 cm.

Hence length of diagonals of

rectangle 34 cm.

i hope it helps you.
