We know that,

                                         = 2(l+b)

                             880     = 2 ( l + 88 )    (by substituting the known values)

So,                       880/2  = l + 88       (by transposing or taking the 2 to the other side)

                      880/2 - 88 = l             (by transposing or taking the 88 to the other side)

                          352 = l                   ( by simplifying)
