the perimeter of a rectangle is 2(l+b)
if \: the \: perimeter \: is \: 56 \: then \\ 2(l + 12) = 56 \\ l + 12 = 28 \\ l = 16cm

Given : A rectangle whose perimeter is 56 cm and breadth is 12 cm.

To find : The length of the rectangle.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the length of the given rectangle)

Let, the length of the given rectangle = x cm

Now, we know that :

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 × (Length + Breadth)

By, putting the the available data in the above mentioned mathematical formula, we get :

56 = 2 × (x + 12)

2x + 24 = 56

2x = 56-24

2x = 32

x = 32/2

x = 16

So, the breadth of the rectangle = x cm = 16 cm

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, the breadth of the rectangle is 16 cm.
