In the figure we have to find that the value of x,

we have, the lenght of the point from the centre of the circle=13cm and the radius of the circle=5cm

Now,since we know that,the tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact

So, in triangle AOB , angle AOB=90degree

by the Pythagoras' theorem-

OB square=OA square+AB square

169=25+OB square

OB square=144

OB=underoot144=12cm
