angle xyz is 90 as straight line from centre is perpendicular bisector of the chord.

Therefore, by Pythagoras theorem

z²=x²+y²

=> 13²= 12²+ x²

=> 169 -144= (x\2) ²

=> √25=x/2

=> x=5*2

=> x=10 cm
