we can assume cylinder is a rectangular shape, where length of rectangle = height of cylinder and Breadth of rectangle = diameter of cylinder .
so, lonest stick can be put in cylinder = diagonal of rectangle
We know, diagonal of rectangle = √(breadth ² + length ²)
= √(40² + 40²)
= 40√2 cm
Hence, longest stick can be put = 40√2 cm
