let the other side of a right angled triangle is X

By Pythagoras theorem ,

[ Hypotenuse ]² = [ first side ]² + [ second side ]²

[ 17 ]² = [ 8 ] ² + [ X ] ²

289 = 64 +

289 - 64 =

225 =

225 = x

15 = x

So , the other side of the right angled triangle is 15 cm .

Step-by-step explanation:

According to Pythagoras

 {hypotenuse}^{2}  =  {perpendicular}^{2}  +  {base}^{2}

therefore

 17^{2}  =  8^{2}  + (other side) ^{2}

 {other side}^{2}  = 289 - 64

 {other side}^{2}  = 225

other side = square root of (225)

other side = 15 cm
