therefore

 \cos( {45}^{0} )  =  \frac{x}{3}

 \cos( {45}^{0} )  =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} }

 \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} }  =  \frac{x}{3}

x =  \frac{3}{ \sqrt{2} } units

x=3√2/2
