here's your answer looking for

in the given figure that I had attached.

we can find the MB

by Pythagoras theorem,


 {17}^{2}  =  {mb }^{2}   +  {8}^{2}  \\  \\ 289 - 64 =  {mb}^{2}  \\  \\  \sqrt{225}  = mb \\  \\ mb = 15cm
now,

we know that perpendicular from the centre to the chord ,bisects the chord.

so, AB = AM + MB

AB = 2MB

AB = 30 cm

so, this is your answer
