Answer:

Length=15cmand breadth=8cm

Lenght of diagonal=\sqrt{l^2+b^2

therfore=\sqrt{ 15^2+8^2

=\sqrt{289 =17

Therfore length of the diagonal =17

The diagonal of rectangle is equal to 17cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a rectangle having length and breadth as 15 and 8 cm respectively and we have to find the diagonal of this rectangle.

  • Formula used,

We use Pythagoras theorem here to find the diagonal of rectangle.

H^{2} =P^{2} +B^{2}

H=\sqrt{P^{2} +B^{2} }

H is for hypotenuse, P is for perpendicular and B is for base of right angled triangle.

  • Calculation for diagonal of rectangle

A rectangle have,

length =15cm

Breadth=8cm

diagonal in rectangle is just like a Hypotenuse of a right angled triangle because all angles of rectangle are of 90\°and Length and breadth are the base and perpendicular respectively of right angled triangle.

so now we have,

P=8cm

B=15cm

and we have to find H.

using formula,

H=\sqrt{P^{2} +B^{2} }

   =\sqrt{(5)^{2} +(15)^{2} }

   =\sqrt{64+225}

   =\sqrt{289}

   =17cm

we get the hypotenuse as diagonal of rectangle is 17cm.

So the answer of this question as the diagonal of rectangle is 17cm.
