let y be other side = 16 cm

acc to pythogoras theorem

 {one side}^{2}  +  {another \: side}^{2}  =  {hypotenuse}^{2}

 {12}^{2}  +  {16}^{2}  =  {hypo}^{2}

144 \:  +  \: 256 =  {hypo}^{2}  \\ 400 =  {hypo}^{2} \\ hypotenuse \:  =  \:  \sqrt{400 }  \\ hypotnuse \:  =  \: 20

similarly ,

 {5}^{2}  +  {12}^{2}  =  {hypo}^{2}

25+144

 \sqrt{169}

=13cm ( hypo)

similarly,

 {4}^{2}  +  {5}^{2}  =  {hypo}^{2}

16 + 25

 \sqrt{41}
