Find the length of the median AP of ∆ABC whose

vertices are A(–1, 1), B(5, –3) and C(3, 5).

Solution :

P is the midpoint of seg AB

By midpoint formula,

x co-ordinate of point P =

y co-ordinate of point P =

∴ Co-ordinates of point P are

d (A, P) =

∴ d (A, P) =

∴ Length of median AP is units.
