Putting y=0. in eqn. (1) then x =4/5. thus , point (4/5,0) lies on (1).

Distance between the parallel lines = length of the perpendicular drawn from

(4/5,0) on line (2).

= |10×4/5–6×0 - 9 |/√{(10)^2+(-6)^2}. units.

= | 8–9 |/√(136). units.

= 1/√136 units.

=1/2√34 units.

=(1×√34)/(2.√34.√34) units.

= √34/68 units.
