we have to find length of perpendicular from the point (5, 4) on the straight line 2x + y = 34

concept : perpendicular distance from the point (x1, y1) on the straight line a1x + b1y + c = 0 is given as

P = |a1x1 + b1y1 + c|/√(a1² + b1²)

here, straight line ; 2x + y - 34 = 0

point : (5, 4)

so, length= |2(5) + 4 - 34|/√(2² + 1²) unit

= |10 + 4 - 34|/√5 unit

= |-20|/√5 unit

= 20/√5 unit

= 4√5 unit

hence, 4√5 unit length of perpendicular from the point (5,4) on the straight line 2x + y - 34 = 0
