so, length= |2(5) + 4 - 34|/√(2² + 1²) unit
= |10 + 4 - 34|/√5 unit
= |-20|/√5 unit
= 20/√5 unit
= 4√5 unit
hence, 4√5 unit length of perpendicular from the point (5,4) on the straight line 2x + y - 34 = 0
