let's consider the the length of the rectangle is x

then the breadth will be (x-0.8)

then the parameter will be

2{x+(x-0.8)}

so

2(x+(x-0.8))=8

2(x+x-0.8)=8

4x-1.6=8

4x= 8+1.6

4x= 9.6

x= 9.6/4

x= 2.4

so the length is 2.4cm and breadth is (2.4-0.8)=1.6cm

cross check

2(2.4+1.6)

2(4)

Given :

Perimeter of a rectangle is given as 8cm and difference of its length and breadth is given as 0.8cm (length >breadth).

To find :

Length of rectangle.

Solution :

Difference b/w length and breadth = 0.8 cm

∵ Length > Breadth

➠ Length - Breadth = 0.8

Length = Breadth + 0.8

Now using formula :

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

Now putting values,

➠ 8 = 2(Breadth + 0.8 + Breadth)

➠ 8/2 = 2Breadth + 0.8

➠ 4 = 2Breadth + 0.8

➠ 4 - 0.8 = 2Breadth

➠ 3.2 = 2Breadth

➠ Breadth = 3.2/2

Breadth = 1.6 cm

Now putting values :

➠ Length = Breadth + 0.8

➠ Length = 1.6 + 0.8

Length = 2.4 cm

Length of rectangle = 2.4 cm.
