ਉਤਰ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਦਿਓ ਜੇ ਜੀਹਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਾਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ

Find the length of the tangent from a point M which is at a distance of 17 cm from the centre O of the circle of radius 8 cm.​

As we know that,

tangent is perpendicular to radius

so,

 \bf \: \angle \: opm = 90 \: degree

so, by Pythagorean theorem in

∆ POM

 {om}^{2}  =  {pm}^{2}  +  {op}^{2}  \\  \\  {pm}^{2}  =  {om}^{2}  -  {op}^{2}  \\  \\  {pm}^{2}  =  {(17)}^{2}  -  {(8)}^{2}  \\  \\  {pm}^{2}  = 225 \\  \\ pm = 15 \: cm

Hence, the length of tangent will be 15 cm.
