let the length of tangent be x

the tangent is 9.1cm away and radius is 8.4cm . hence it will form atriangle.

x^2=(9.1) ^2 + (8.4) ^2

x^2= 82.81+70.56

x^2=153.37

x=√153.37

x= 12.30

Let the length of tangent be x cm.

Given:-

radius of circle = 8.4 cm.

the distance from centre = 9.1cm.

now, using Pythagoras theorem,

x = √(9.1)²- (8.4)²

x = √82.81 - 70.56

x = √ 12.25

x = 3.5

Hence, length of tangent = 3.5 cm.
