we will use Pythagoras theorem.

Let AB be tangent .

 \tt{ {ab}^{2} } =  {ob}^{2}  -  {oa}^{2}

 \tt \:  ab =  \sqrt{25 - 9}

 \tt \: ab =  \sqrt{16}

{ \tt \boxed{ ab = 4cm}}
