We have to find the magnetization of a bar magnet of length 5 cm and cross sectional area 2 cm² if the magnetic moment is 1 Am².

solution : length of the bar magnet, l = 5 cm = 0.05 m

magnet moment , m = 1 Am²

cross sectional area of magnet , A = 2 cm² = 2 × 10⁻⁴ m²

we know,

magnetization of a bar magnet is given by , M = magnetic moment of the bar magnet/volume of the bar magnet

= m/Al

= 1/(2 × 10⁻⁴ × 0.05) = 1/(10 ×10⁻⁶) = 10⁵ A/m

therefore the magnetisation of the bar magnet is 10⁵ A/m.
