To solve such questions, one of the easiest ways is assuming the value to be found(Marked Price in this case) as a variable which is usually an english alphabet.

Let the marked price, MP be x.

Given,

Selling price of the fan, SP = ₹ 1,260
Discount percentage, d = 10 %

We already know that,
SP = MP - Discount
1260 = x - ( 10 % of x )
1260 = x - 10x / 100
1260 = x - x / 10
1260 = ( 10x - x ) / 10
1260 * 10 = 9x
x = 12600 / 9
x = 1400

Hence,
Marked Price, MP = x = ₹ 1,400

HEY MATE HERE IS YOUR ANSWER

You should know that if the value is not given so that you can take it as variable which is alphabet also.

Let the marked price be x

IT IS GIVEN THAT selling price of a fan = Rs 1,260

And percentage of discount = 10%

Now using formula

SP = MP - D {here d is discount}
1260= x- {10% of x}
1260= x - 10x/100
1260 = x - x/10
1260=(10x-x)/10
1260 × 10 = 9x
12600 = 9x
12600/9 = x
1400 = x

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HENCE, MP( Marked Prize) =₹ 1400
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU
