Given :-

  • Selling price (S.P) = Rs. 8400
  • Percentage discount = 16%

To Find :-

  • Marked price (M.P) of the washing machine.

Solution :-

Let the marked price (M.P) of the product be x.

Discount given on the product =

⇒ 16% of x (M.P)

\implies\rm{\dfrac{16}{100}\times{}x}

\implies\rm{\dfrac{16x}{100}}

Now, we know,

Selling price (S.P) = Marked price (M.P) - Discount

Putting the values for S.P, M.P & Discount, we get,

\implies\rm{8400=x-\dfrac{16x}{100}}

\implies\rm{8400=\dfrac{100x-16x}{100}}

\implies\rm{840000=84x}

\implies\rm{x=\dfrac{840000}{84}}

\implies\rm{x=}\:\bold{10000}

Hence,

  • Marked price of the washing machine = ₹10,000.

Solution -

In the above Question, we have the following information -

The washing machine is sold at a price of Rs. 8400 after allowing a discount if 16% on it .

To find -

We have to find the marked Price of the washing machine .

Let us define Marked Price , and Selling Price

Marked Price or MP is the price of the articles demarcated for sale .

Selling Price or SP is the price of the article when it is sold

Now ,

From the information in the above question, we can obtain the following values -

SP of Washing Machine = Rs. 8400

Given Discount percentage = 16%

Let the marked Price Of the washing machine be Rs. x

Now ,

x - 16% of X = 8400

=> ( 100 - 16 ) % of X = 8400

=> 84% of X = 8400

=> ( 84 / 100 ) × X = 8400

=> X = 8400 ÷ ( 84 / 100 )

=> X = ( 8400 × 100 ) / 84

=> X = 100 × 100

=> X = 10000

Hence , the required marked Price of the given article is Rs. 10,000.....
