Maximum 6 electrons will have same Z_{eff} value for Sulphur atom.

Concept:

Consider an electron in one of the atomic orbital of a multi-electron atom, because of the repulsion in electrons with each other, the nuclear charge felt by the electrons will be less.

This electron is said to be shielded by nuclear charge and the effect is known as shielding effect.

Z_{eff} = Z-S

Z_{eff}= effective nuclear charge

Z= atomic number

S= Screening/ shielding constant

Electronic configuration of sulfur atom = 1s^{2} 2s^{2} 2p^{6} 3s^{2} 3p^{4}

Calculation of screening constant:

according to Slater's rule,

S= (0.35 ×5) + (0.85×8 ) + (1×2)

S= 10.55

Z = 16

Z_{eff} = 16-10.55 = 5.45

So, for maximum 6 electrons Z_{eff} will be same.
