y=−5x²+2x−7

Differentiating the above equation with respect to x, gives us

dy/dx=−10x+2

Or

2−10x=0

Or

x= 1/5

Hence the above expression reaches its maximum value at x= 1/5.

Answer:

When we find the maximum value and the minimum value of ax^2 + bx + c then let us assume y = ax^2 + bx + c. Thus, the minimum value of theexpression is 4ac - b^2/4a. Therefore, we clearly see that the expression y becomes maximum when a < 0. Thus, the maximum value of the expressionis 4ac - b^2/4a.
