Answer:

We visualise the problem and the situation practically in the following way :- Oil is contained in a large container . We have to transfer oil from this large container to two cans with maximum capacities as 84 litre and 144 litre . We have to select an appropriate bottle with maximum size ( to minimize the number of transference ) so that each time the bottle is full to the brim for transference of oil , and ultimately no oil is left in the large container . Thus , we have to determine the MAXIMUM SIZE OF THE BOTTLE NEEDED TO FILL TWO CANS ( WITH CAPACITIES OF 84 L AND 144 L ) , WITH OIL BEING TRANSFERRED FROM A LARGE CONTAINER WITH CONDITIONS THAT NO PARTIAL FILLING OF THE BOTTLE IS ALLOWED AND NO OIL SHOULD BE LEFT IN THE LARGE CONTAINER .
