Maximize, z = 5x1 + 3x2

x1 + 2x2 ≤ 10

x1 – x2 ≤ 8

x1, x2 ≥ 0

For simplex

x¹ + 2x² + s¹ = 10

x¹ - x² + s² = 8

and màximize z = 5x1 + 3x² + 0s¹ + 0s²

where s1 and s2 are slaàck variables

First & Second simplex table in the attachment

s1 = 2

x1 = 8

so Max z = 5x¹ + 3x² + 0s¹ + 0s²

Max z = 5 × 8 = 40
