Given,

The following set of observations: 15, 22, 18, 27, 31, 21, 14, 36, 25 and 34

To find,

The mean and median of the given observations.

Solution,

The mean and median of 15, 22, 18, 27, 31, 21, 14, 36, 25 and 34 will be 24.3 and 26 respectively.

We can easily solve this problem by following the given steps.

We know that the following formula is used to find the mean of given observations:

Mean = Sum of all observations/total number of observations

The total number of observations is 10.

Mean = (15+22+18+27+31+21+14+36+25+34)/10

Mean = 243/10

Mean = 24.3

Now, the median is the middle term of the observation. If the number of observations is odd then it is the middle term and if it is even then the sum of the two middle terms is divided by 2.

In this case, the number of observations is 10 (even).

Now, the two middle terms will be the 5th and 6th observations.

Middle terms = 31 and 21

Median = (31+21)/2

Median = 52/2

Median = 26

Hence, the mean and median of 15, 22, 18, 27, 31, 21, 14, 36, 25 and 34 is 24.3 and 26 respectively.
